A California Dream Home in Piedmont

A tech professional and his family, relocated from Seattle, sought to create a quintessential California home and lifestyle in a classic Mediterranean house in Piedmont. The extensive renovation involved gutting the house and infusing it with modern cabinetry, plumbing, tile, electrical systems, stairwell railings, and finishes while honoring the original trim, windows, and doors. The interior boasts a fresh palette of blues, golds, yellows, cranberries, and plums.

The laundry room, a standout feature, includes Waterworks tile, Aux Abris iridescent vinyl wall covering, and an Ann Sacks patterned porcelain floor. The outdoor spaces were designed in collaboration with landscape architect David Thorne, featuring custom tiles for the pool, jacuzzi, and arched wall made from fire clay, with additional furnishings and umbrellas from Santa Barbara Designs, Potocco, and Harbour Outdoor.

Key vendors and collaborators include Erik Lindstrom rugs, Artistic Tile, Cle Tile, Exquisite Surfaces, and Waterworks for tiles; lighting from Best and Lloyd, Urban Electric, Vaughan Designs, and Regina Andrew; furniture from Thomas Hayes, Garde-LA, de la Espada, Custom Furniture Design, Design Within Reach, and Matt O’Reilly Upholstery; accessories from Epoca, Garde-LA, Lawson Fenning, Found by Maja, 1st Dibs, and Arteriors; wallcoverings from Elitis, Aux Abris, and Philip Jeffries; and fabrics from Natasha Baradan, Rubelli, Zack and Fox, Raoul, Cowtan and Tout, Great Plains, Holland and Sherry, and Samuel and Sons. Art pieces include works by Laurie, Dolby Chadwick, and Henry Jackson. This project beautifully marries traditional Mediterranean architecture with contemporary California style, creating a harmonious living space for the family.
